Lookout & Women’s Month Activism

Please be aware of impostors in our area. Unfortunately a community member was, today, burgled by a criminal impersonating a City Power official. They purported to have to change her electricity meter to another kind/make. Once they had gained access to the property, they made off with electronic items in the house. So a good thing is that we can now learn from this!

Please do not let anyone on to your property unless they have all the official badges, letters and documents providing them this authority. Even then you have all right to refuse entry and request that they return later or another day. You can then request SAPS or your security company to be at your side when they return to do whatever they need to.
Please be aware, however, that if you do continually refuse to supply Electricity meters access or your reading you can get cut-off.
I have also confirmed through Councillor Ravid that there is no indication from City Power that they are doing this ‘change’ of meters. They would only do this if you requested them to and usually only if it required replacement or if you wanted a pre-paid meter installed. So there is no changing occurring in our suburbs that we know about. If you are approached by someone and you are concerned about their legitimacy, call the SAPS on 10111 and they should come an investigate.

Women’s Month March

The Norwood SAPS in conjunction with the Norwood CPF would like to invite you to celebrate Women’s Month with us. Norwood SAPS have put together a plan to make us all aware of what domestic abuse is about and how to prevent and report it. They will be doing an awareness drive to bring this scourge to our communities’ attention so that we are all empowered on how to deal with it.

This will be in the form of a walk throughout our most populous suburbs and trouble areas. I have summarized our route lower down and Norwood SAPS will be in tow to ensure safety and assistance where necessary.

We would like to encourage all those that are able to come out and get involved. Whether it is through coming along for the walk, providing refreshments for those involved along the way or putting forward your vocal support for Women’s rights.

When – Friday 23rd August

Time – 10 am or 10:00 – 2 pm or 14:00 (approximate ending time)
